James Hill WilderJames Hill Wilder was born August 30, 1840, in Ohio. He was the third son of Elias Wilder and Turzah Fuller. 1850 and 1860 Census records for Jackson, Putnam County, Missouri show Elias living with his mother, father and 2 younger brothers. On May 12, 1861 he married Caroline Huntley.Caroline Huntley was born Jan 21, 1844, in Iowa. She was the daughter of Josiah Huntley and Salley Pearson, natives of Ohio.
The lineage of James Hill Wilder is as follows: 1865, James Hill Wilder immegrated west with his father Elias, mother Turza, and wife Caroline Huntley. They traveled by Ox, from Missouri to Silvyville/Dixon California: A long and difficult journey. John and Caroline settled for a time in Dixon, where they worked a local farm. |

| 1870 Census for Silveyville, California shows James living with his wife Caroline, three daughters, Sally, Mary and Hannah, and his mother Thurza. His father Elias Wilder passed away the previous year. By 1880 James' mother Thurza had also passed away, and he had moved his family to Paskenta, California. It is not known where Elias and Thurza are buried. The family was told that they were buried in a farm cemetery, near where they were living. |

James Hill Wilder passed away August 19, 1910, in Flume, Shasta Co. California and is buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Red Bluff, California.
Caroline passed away May 29, 1894, in Paskenta, California and is buried in the Lowrey Cemetery in Tehema County. Visit the final resting place"of James Hill Wilder and Caroline Huntley-Wilder.
